Idea Generation

Initial Ideas:

  • Test preparation program that allows students to simulate testing accommodations offered by the ACT to determine which best suit their needs. Following the simulated ACT, students can request that version of the ACT. This would be a computer program and tailored to each individual student's diagnoses.

  • A nationwide free test offered to any student. This will alleviate some financial stress that students may currently have and will allow them to retake the test as many times as they may need.

  • Have students take the test in groups of 5-10. This would reduce distractions and stress caused by a large and crowded testing environment.

Other Options:

  • Add test sections that test students' logic, thinking, creative thinking, and problem solving skills. Testing these skills would give a more accurate reflection of a student's career or college readiness, which is the ACT's original intention.

  • Add short answer responses as well as open ended questions to the ACT. This is another way to give students a space to show their creative thinking skills in a way that cannot be shown through multiple choice responses.
